Our easy to install fireproof, Acoustic Hoods to reduce noise through inset ceiling lights in both timber and concrete ceilings.
These Acoustic Hoods are a lightweight sound absorber that can easily be installed above a light, to reduce noise nuisance being heard in the room above. Independent acoustic testing has shown that a ceiling with down lighters and acoustic hoods installed performs to within 1dB of the equivalent ceiling without no holes within it at all.
Down lighters in ceilings are widely used in commercial and domestic buildings. Each ceiling is subject to fire regulations and where applicable the ceiling construction needs to be fire rated.
However, once a hole has been made in the ceiling for a down lighter, the integrity of the construction and it's ability to perform in a fire can be reduced significantly. To combat this our Acoustic Hoods are also intumescent and therefore fire resistant to maximum protection for holes created by the introduction of a ceiling down lighter and also allows for maximum ease of fitting.
In a fire situation the cover expands internally to fill all the available space with a highly insulating fire resistant char. Thus, the fire is unable to penetrate the hole and the cover is able to give additional insulation protection to the ceiling void to reduce the chance of heat build up and ignition of flammable materials such as accumulated dust and insulation.
These hoods are available in many sizes to suit the cut out space.
WE WOULD ALWAYS ADVISE AGAINST CUTTING HOLES IN THE CEILING TO FIT LIGHTS AS IT ALLOWS SOUND TO PASS THROUGH IT MUCH MORE EASILY. IF YOU MUST USE DOWNLIGHTERS PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU FIT THESE HOODS WITH ALONG WITH OUR OTHER SOUND REDUCING PRODUCTS FOR CEILINGS AND/OR SEPARATING FLOORS.
